Continuing our tradition of many years of great summer basketball camps in the Vail Valley, the largest and longest running basketball camp returns this summer in an online format starting on Monday, June 22 for grades 2-12.  

While the coronavirus pandemic has significantly impacted all our lives, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future, we want to provide some sense of normalcy for our youth.  With so many leagues, practice, and competitions on hold or cancelled, we know it’s tough on young athletes.

But rather than focus on what we are missing, the coaches at N.O.D. see this as a unique opportunity for kids to really focus on getting better at the fundamentals of their sport.  We are NOT cancelling our summer basketball camps; we are just modifying how we will run them.

What: One Week of Camp / Five Weeks of Follow-up Instruction
When: June 22-25, 2020, from 10am - 1:15pm Mountain Time
Who: Anyone entering 2nd through 12th grade this fall
Where: Online through livestream video and prerecorded skill instruction
Cost: Donation ($5 minimum)*

*Normally this camp costs $120.  However, we understand many people have been affected by the pandemic and don't want cost to prohibit kids from attending camp.  Upon registration, you can choose any amount to donate to the causes this camp supports:  youth athletic programs, and the NOD Foundation, which provides scholarships for college students. We appreciate any amount you can give as these programs count on our camps for funding.

Our mission this summer is to help kids have a happy and healthy start to their summers.  What we are working on is creating an online camp; all your child will need is a ball and if possible a hoop (we can make some adjustments for those without a hoop). 

Every 30 min coaches will be checking in live with the players through video. We’ll provide the campers live instruction, and then give them 15-20 minutes to practice on their own. 

WE WILL BE SENDING OUT DAILY EMAILS DURING CAMP TO PROVIDE THE CONTENT AND WILL USE ZOOM, GOOGLE MEET, AND/OR INSTAGRAM LIVE TO SHARE LIVE CONTENT AND RUN THE CAMP VIRTUALLY!!! Camp content will be sent to the email address you register with.

Skills we will work on:

• Shooting – Form shooting, post shooting, game shots, triple threat shooting
• Dribbling – stationary and on the move
• Defense – Stance, quickness, communication
• Passing – stationary and on the move
• Footwork – how to pivot in various scenarios (post moves, boxing out, screening)
• Strength and agility exercises
• Shooting and ball handling contests
• Life skills – confidence, mental toughness, nutrition, and leadership
• 
  

At the end of each day, we’ll allow the kids time to ask questions about anything from the day, or what they want to know about the coaches.

We accept campers of all basketball abilities, from beginner to experienced.  We’ll make as much effort as we can to connect to each camper despite the social distancing required. 

Then, for 5 weeks starting the week after our Virtual Camp:
Every Monday and Wednesday, we will release exclusive post-camp content through email and social media, which will keep your kids busy all summer long!

All campers will receive access to exclusive skills videos, a camp t-shirt, and post-camp workout handouts.
